Musical Notes as Cipher
Musical notes can encode messages since the basic note names (C, D, E, F, G, A, B) are also letters. This creates opportunities for hiding words in sheet music.
Note Naming Systems
English/American System
Uses letters A through G for the seven natural notes. The scale runs C D E F G A B.
Solfege (Do Re Mi)
The solfege system uses syllables: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si (Ti). This system is used worldwide, especially for vocal training.
German System
Similar to English, but uses H for B-natural and Bfor B-flat. This famously allows spelling BACH (Bb-A-C-B).
