Solving Tips
Identify the Cipher
Look at the character set first. Only letters? Probably substitution. Numbers 1-26? Likely A1Z26. Symbols? Check visual ciphers.
Use Context Clues
Puzzle titles and descriptions often hint at the cipher type. "Caesar" suggests Caesar cipher, "ancient" might mean Atbash.
Try Common Methods
Start with ROT13, then A1Z26, then Caesar brute force. These cover the majority of geocaching puzzles.
